Big School Camp
Big School Camp provides camping and outdoor activity opportunities for schools nationwide. The co-founders of Big School Camp, Gary Marlow and Tom Lowrie, and founder of Feral Science, Rupert Loch have worked together on this project since the Big School Camp premiere. For three consecutive years, Rupert has worked with Big School Camp as a Freelance Instructor and Chief Instructor to deliver a range of bushcraft-based workshops and team building skills sessions.
Bracken outdoors
Bracken Outdoors provides learning opportunities surrounding bushcraft, hiking, camping skills, outdoor learning sessions and guided walks. Feral Science and Bracken Outdoors have collaborated on a number of occasions, hosting various workshops and special events, which include bushcraft and outdoor science training.

Forest School Association & Forest Education Network
The Forest School Association (FSA) is a national professional body for Forest Schools. The Forest Education Network (FEN) is the community based in Leicestershire and Rutland. In October 2022, FSA invited Feral Science to present the FSA Conference on “The Safe Use of Dangerous Toys in Forest School Sessions”. Feral Science was invited to present again at the September 2023 FSA Conference, where Rupert led a Kylie-making workshop.
Institute of Outdoor Learning & Wildly Curious UK
The Institute of Outdoor Learning is a professional body for those providing outdoor learning opportunities. In March 2023, Mel Grenfell (Founder of Wildly Curious UK) invited Feral Science to present at the Institute of Outdoor Learning Bushcraft Professional Practice Group Conference, where he led a Kylie-carving workshop, and is expected to present again in 2024 on the topic of Energy Transfers.
National Forest & Conkers
Conkers is a site providing fun scientific and historical education to youths, which hosts a series of outdoor explorative activities like rock climbing and high ropes. Feral Science has delivered CPD events and is consulting the provision of training resources for the National Forest Company and the Conkers Educational Site.
Nearly Wild Camping
Nearly Wild Camping hosts campers looking for a wild and quiet camping experience. Rupert is a board member and ambassador of Nearly Wild Camping and hosted a Nearly Wild Social Camping weekend with workshops on water filtration and primitive hunting technologies in July 2023. Future collaborations may include a Nearly Wild Wine Making online introductory lecture to forge-based wine making.
Pippin and Gile
Pippin and Gile provides a variety of bushcraft courses in woodland environments. Rupert has delivered bushcraft training as a freelance instructor; future collaborations include a “Ferments Day”, which will address how drinks are made through fermentation and infusion.
Social Emotional Behavioural Disorder Association
Social Emotional Behavioural Disorder Association (SEBDA) provides professional development opportunities to help staff meet the needs of young people with social, emotional and mental health needs. In September 2023, Feral Science hosted a workshop at Elmwood School on using the outdoor environment to teach curriculum science as a way of supporting students with special educational needs.
Tara Crank
Tara Crank is a freelance bushcraft instructor and pHD student in outdoor education. Rupert and Tara initially met as bushcraft trainers through Woodland Survival Craft, and have later worked together through Big School Camp and Institute of Outdoor Learning Bushcraft Professional Practice Group.
Urban Bushcraft
Urban Bushcraft provides bushcraft learning opportunities in urban areas. Feral Science has presented workshops on hunting technologies – the Atlatl.
Woodland Survival Craft
Woodland Survival Craft provides outdoor education to youths and adults using bushcraft and survival craft skills. Woodland Survival Craft inspired Rupert’s initial interest in bushcraft after hosting a school enrichment day at Spring Woods. Since then, Rupert works as an Assisting Trainer for Woodland Survival Craft, and has delivered a 3-day Institute of Outdoor Learning Bushcraft competency training in collaboration with Dave Watson, Founder of Woodland Survival Craft.
Other Collaborations include: Coalville CAN; Green Life Innovations/ Coalville Education Partnership; Festival of Outdoor Learning.
